Window film solution
Florida sun fades hardwood, rugs, upholstery, cabinetry and artwork. Window film blocks most of the ultraviolet coming through the glass — even clear-looking films.

Short answer
Professional solar control films, including the Madico films we install, are published by their manufacturers as rejecting 99% or more of ultraviolet radiation. That significantly reduces one of the main causes of fading. UV isn't the only cause — visible light and heat also contribute — so film slows fading rather than stopping it completely.
You notice it when you move a rug or a piece of furniture: the floor underneath is a different color. Upholstery, window-side cabinetry, photographs and artwork go the same way.
Glass alone blocks some UV, but much of it still passes through ordinary window glass.
UV absorbers built into the film filter almost all ultraviolet. Because this works independently of tint, even light films and spectrally selective films provide high UV protection.
Darker films also reduce visible light and heat, which helps with fading further.

What we check first
Why H2O
Glass type, size, coatings and exposure are reviewed against the film maker's compatibility guidance before we recommend anything.
Our core architectural range comes from Madico, a window film manufacturer headquartered in Pinellas Park, here in Tampa Bay.
We work carefully around high-end interiors, custom window treatments and large or specialty glass.
You'll hear what a film will do, what it won't, and why we picked it — not just the most expensive option.
Most projects can be estimated by phone; we come out when the glass needs to be seen.
Questions
Yes. UV protection comes from UV absorbers in the film, not from how dark it is, so light and clear-looking solar films can still block nearly all UV.
It significantly slows fading by blocking most UV, and darker films reduce visible light and heat as well. Fading has several causes, so film reduces it rather than eliminating it.
