West-facing rooms that overheat by 4 p.m.
Bedrooms and living rooms on the west side of the house become unusable late in the day. Solar control film cuts the heat coming through the glass so the room stays usable without closing the blinds.

From downtown condominium towers to Old Northeast bungalows and bayfront homes in Shore Acres — window film matched to St. Pete's glass and exposure.
St. Petersburg at a glance
H2O Window Tinting installs residential and commercial window film across St. Petersburg, FL, including downtown condominiums, historic homes in Old Northeast, Kenwood and Roser Park, waterfront neighborhoods such as Shore Acres and Venetian Isles, and storefronts and offices along Central Avenue. Films are chosen for each home's glass and exposure to cut heat, glare and UV while keeping a natural look.
St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg isn't one kind of property, and that's why a one-film-fits-all approach doesn't work here. A floor-to-ceiling condo unit downtown, a 1920s Craftsman in Kenwood with original wavy glass, and a bayfront ranch in Shore Acres with new impact sliders all need different answers.
Downtown and along the waterfront, the problem is usually brightness and heat off Tampa Bay. In the older inland neighborhoods it's more often a west-facing room that's unusable by late afternoon, or floors and furniture fading under unfiltered sun.
Neighborhoods we cover
The property
Downtown's condominium towers are mostly window walls. Units facing east and south take bright morning and midday sun off the bay; west-facing units bake through the afternoon. Because the glass is the wall, even a modest improvement in solar heat rejection makes a big difference to comfort and to how hard the AC runs.
The historic neighborhoods — Old Northeast, Kenwood, Roser Park, Crescent Lake — are full of bungalows and revival-style homes with older single-pane windows, sometimes original glass. These homes are often deeply shaded by oaks, so the issue tends to be specific rooms rather than the whole house. Older glass also deserves a more careful film choice.
The waterfront neighborhoods on the northeast side and along Boca Ciega Bay mix mid-century homes with recent rebuilds. Many homes that took water in the 2024 storms now have new impact windows and doors, and large new sliders facing the water are exactly where heat and glare complaints start.
What we solve
Bedrooms and living rooms on the west side of the house become unusable late in the day. Solar control film cuts the heat coming through the glass so the room stays usable without closing the blinds.
Downtown and waterfront homes deal with reflected light off the water as well as direct sun. Film reduces glare to a comfortable level while keeping the view.
Unfiltered sun fades hardwood, fabrics and artwork. Quality architectural films block nearly all UV, one of the biggest contributors to fading.
Ground-floor condos, townhomes and storefronts on busy streets need daytime privacy without blackout shades. Reflective films provide it during daylight hours.
What we recommend
Businesses
St. Pete's commercial work ranges from storefronts on Central Avenue and in the Grand Central District, to offices downtown, to restaurants and retail with big west-facing windows. Film cuts the heat and glare that drives customers away from window seats, protects merchandise from fading, and gives mismatched or tired glass a uniform, finished look from the street. We schedule commercial installs around business hours so the space stays open.
Before you install
Downtown towers regulate exterior appearance. Clear spectrally selective films rarely need special approval; reflective or dark films usually do. We provide data sheets for the board or property manager.
Original single-pane glass in historic homes can be more fragile and has different thermal behavior. We assess it on site and recommend films suitable for older glass.
If your windows were replaced after the 2024 storms, tell us the manufacturer if you know it. Laminated impact glass is common now and the film choice should suit it.
If your home is a designated landmark or in a local historic district, check with the city's historic preservation office before choosing a visibly reflective film. Near-clear films don't change the look of the windows.

Questions
It depends on the amount and type of glass, the film and access. A few west-facing windows is a very different job from a full condo window wall. We give a firm price after looking at the glass, usually starting with photos and a phone call.
Yes. Film is applied to the inside of the glass and doesn't alter the window frame. We assess older glass on site and favor near-clear films so the home's exterior look is unchanged.
Yes. We coordinate with building management on access, elevators and working hours, and we can supply product documentation if the association requires approval.
It depends on the window manufacturer's terms. Film manufacturers publish glass compatibility guidance, and we check both before recommending a film for new impact glass.
